Aspataki : We Appreciate Benny Rhamdani's Official Working Visit to Dubai

Dubai - To improve the protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) and looking for new job opportunities, the Head of the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI) Benny Rhamdani made his first official visit to Dubai and Abu Dhabi, on 1st to 3rd of November 2020.

The Head of BP2MI visited the shelter of Indonesian Consulate there which was immediately received by the Indonesian Consul General in Dubai, Ridwan Hassan. Ridwan explained that the number of PMIs in Dubai is currently recorded at around 50-60 thousand people, but in reality this number could reach up to more than 100-200 thousand people, due to the large number of non-procedural PMIs currently working in Dubai.

On this occasion, Benny also had a direct dialogue with 75 PMIs who were at the shelters at the time, which were dominated by PMI in the domestic sector who were illegally being placed in Dubai. There is even one PMI with a baby, who she recently gave birth to at the Dubai Shelter. While at the Indonesian Consulate in Dubai, the Head of BP2MI was also directly involved in resolving the problem between a PMI and his employer, namely demanding his rights if the PMI had to terminate his employment contract.

Aspataki really appreciates the Head of BP2MI who has made an official working visit to the Indonesian Consulate General in Dubai and at the same time prepares for the opening of the PMI placement to Dubai, as well as being able to look for the existing problems, said Saiful Chairman of Aspataki.

Arriving in Indonesia, Aspataki hopes that there will be a representative from the Head of the Agency to immediately open the official PMI placement in accordance with Law 18/2017, said Saiful.
