JAKARTA - Approaching the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between Indonesia and Malaysia on April 1, 2022, there are more Malaysian private agencies ready to collaborate with Aspataki in implementing a one-channel system for placement of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) to Malaysia.

However, because 1st April (April Fool's Day) is a day when people are allowed to lie (April Fools' day), it is possible that the signing of the MoU will not be on April the 1st, but it may be pushed back a few days later, say 5th April.

The White Hair, Saiful, the Chairman of Aspataki, together with all Aspataki members with the largest total PMI placements in the Asia region, for the umpteenth time explained to the public that all P3MI (Indonesian Migrant Worker Placement Companies) members of Aspataki will only place PMI through a one-channel system,  The One Channel System, which has been agreed by the Malaysian and Indonesian Governments, is in the interest of protecting our PMIs, especially protection from modern slavery, illegal placement and also their safety and welfare, said Saiful.

"There are more than 26 APS that are ready to cooperate with P3MI Aspataki members and according to the information we have received, there will be an increase of around 24 APS who have declared their readiness in total about 50 APS," said Saiful.

For the start of implementing the one-channel system, the number of agencies can be considered sufficient. This means, according to Saiful, Malaysian agencies that reject the one-channel system can recruit foreign workers from source countries other than Indonesia, said Saiful.

Quoting from online news, utusan.com.my, on March 18, 2022, regarding the issue of "cost amah RM15k", White Hair was a little tickled with his crooked smile, "That's the highest maximum limit....which in practice has been going on for years, P3MI gets smaller than that, at most 2/3 of it, we think it's a bit impossible to get that big", said Saiful in a relaxed and flat tone.

At the same time, the Secretary General of Aspataki, Fillius Yandono, told the team that Aspataki was very welcome and ready to discuss with the Associations in Malaysia, regarding the placement model through the One Channel System and its B to B mechanism, a "win-win solution", said Filius.

Hopefully the MoU between Malaysia and Indonesia that will be held in the near future is going well, and hopefully this One Channel System can run well and can be used as a stepping stone to reopen the placement of Domestic Workers in other Middle Eastern countries that have long been closed, as well as formal sector placements in Malaysia can be opened soon after the signing of this MoU, hopes from several P3MI President Directors who were interviewed by the team.
